OruxMaps is a versatile online and offline map viewer app that offers a range of features and map formats to enhance your outdoor experience.

Online Maps

OruxMaps allows you to view online maps as a Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Map Tile Service (WMTS) viewer. You can also download online maps for offline use, although it’s important to note that not all online map sources are currently downloadable. If you can’t find the option to download a map, you can select an alternative source.

Featured Mapbox and Google Online Maps

We’re excited to introduce our latest update! OruxMaps now includes featured Mapbox and Google online maps. Please note that a subscription is required to access these maps.

Registration and Privacy

Registering into OruxMaps servers is optional. The app functions perfectly without this step. However, if you choose to register, the app will request personal information such as your email account, date of birth, sex, weight, and height. Please rest assured that this data will be securely stored on our OruxMaps server and will not be shared with any other user, person, or company. It is solely for your own convenience. Should you decide to delete your account, all of your data will be permanently removed from our server.

Multi-Tracking and Sharing Position

If you opt to use the ‘multitracking’ option, the app will prompt you to select the email addresses of the individuals you wish to share your position with. These email addresses will be stored on our server for the sole purpose of enabling position sharing. Should you delete your account, this information will also be securely deleted from our server.

Support for External Devices

OruxMaps offers support for multiple external devices, including external GPS, heart rate monitors (including Bluetooth Smart 4.0 devices), bike cadence and speed sensors, bike power meters, and ANT+ devices (speed, cadence, heart rate, distance, cycle power, and temperature). It can also be utilized to monitor tire pressure and temperature. Additionally, the app allows you to connect to AIS information systems for nautical sports via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB.

Routes and Tracks

With OruxMaps, you can view routes and tracks in various formats, such as KML, KMZ, TCX, FIT, CSV, SHP, and GPX. Furthermore, you have the ability to share your position with friends and see the positions of your friends on your own device.

Route Navigation and Alarms

The app enables you to follow routes with different alarms that alert you when you are near a waypoint or have veered off the designated route. Additionally, it offers geofence and exclusion zone alarms with KML/KMZ overlays.

Waypoints and Geocaching

OruxMaps allows you to create and save waypoints, including the option to attach photo, audio, and video extensions. You can also customize waypoint types with your own icons and attach forms to the waypoints. Furthermore, the app provides basic support for geocaching.

Altitude Correction and Track Editor

Using DEM files offline or online services, you can correct the altitude of your tracks and routes. OruxMaps also offers a track editor tool, allowing you to modify track points by adding, removing, or moving them if they are incorrect.

Track Search and Download

Looking for tracks? OruxMaps lets you search and download tracks from various sources, such as gpsies.com. You can also search or create tracks using online services from Graphopper or offline using the Brouter app.

Android Wear Version

For users with Android Wear devices, we offer a dedicated version that requires the OruxMaps phone/tablet app. With this version, you can view basic data and your position on a simplified Google map.
